A card terminal costs money every month and does nothing for the tourist whose card your bank declines. A crypto point of sale costs nothing extra: it is a web page.
What you need
- A phone or tablet with a browser and a reliable connection.
- A Cryptain account with a store for the shop.
- Optionally, a stand so the screen faces the customer.
Setting up
- Open Point of sale in the dashboard on the device you will use at the counter.
- Choose the store, if you have more than one.
- Add the page to the home screen so it opens full screen, like an app.
Taking a payment
- Type the amount in your currency. Add a note such as "Table 4" if it helps.
- Under Customer pays with, choose the coin the customer wants. For walk-in customers, low-fee networks such as USDT on Tron or Solana are the quickest.
- Tap Show QR code and turn the screen to the customer. They scan it with their wallet and send.
- The screen shows Waiting for payment… and switches to Payment received once the network confirms it. Tap New sale for the next customer.
The Today list shows every sale since opening, so closing the till is quick.
Give staff their own login
Invite each staff member under Team with the Cashier role. Cashiers sign in straight to the point-of-sale screen and cannot see balances, withdrawals or settings. Every sale records who took it.
Tips from the shop floor
- Tell people before they queue. A small "Crypto accepted: USDT, BTC, ETH" sign at the entrance and by the till does most of the work.
- Pick fast networks for small amounts. Bitcoin is fine for a 900-dollar watch; for a coffee, offer Tron, Solana, TON or Base.
- Wait for the green screen. Hand over the goods when the screen says Payment received. On fast networks that takes seconds, so nobody is kept waiting.
- Refunds happen at the dashboard. A crypto payment cannot be reversed at the till; refund it from the invoice to the customer's wallet.
At the end of the day, withdraw the takings or let them sit in your balance until auto-withdraw sends them on.
